  • COURSE TITLE: Sustainable Development for Health (SD4H) Seminar    

    COURSE DESCRIPTION:     The seminar will be co-led by faculty at Maseno University, KEMRI, and UCGHI, as well as others experts in this field. The SD4H Seminar includes lectures, groups discussions, course readings, videos, case studies, site visits, presentations, proposal development, reports, and Works in Progress. 

    COURSE OBJECTIVES:   

    Build on existing courses and supplement the existing programs to ensure that students are able to meet the SD4H Core Competencies within the first two years of the program.

     

    COURSE COMPETENCIES:

    1. Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between sustainable development and health
    2. Demonstrate understanding of epidemiology and HIV care and treatment in sub-Saharan Africa
    3. Demonstrate research skills necessary to conduct SD4H studies
    4. Demonstrate expertise in scientific writing
    5. Translate research to policy and practice
    6. Model collaboration, partnership and communication skills
    7. Practice resource mobilization and management
    8. Employ leadership and mentorship skills
