Hello everyone,

Happy New Year. I hope you are all well.

May I convey greetings from eCampus and welcome you to the 2016 academic year. Our target this year is to have many students graduating from eCampus.

To achieve the above stated target, we will be putting in place measures to ensure close cooperation, collaboration, communication and interaction between Schools, students and faculty. This is an effort aimed at minimizing delays in your project/ research progress occasioned by various reasons/ challenges.

We therefore urge everyone to lay out a plan, with clear targets set and spread throughout the year so as to cover every step of the research process.

For those who are yet to defend their project/ research concepts or proposals, we will be sending out notifications asking them to complete a short online form to enable them book a month they would appear to defend their project/ research ideas at Schools or Departments. This will enable us schedule them for defenses within their Schools.

For those who have defended and their concepts/ proposals are with faculty members (supervisors) for review and have been waiting for responses, please send a copy of the concept/ proposal to this email elearning-postgraduate@maseno.ac.ke. In the email, mention when you sent out the draft and provide contact details of the supervisors to enable us send them reminders to act on the concepts/ proposals.

For those whose proposals are at the SGS level or ethics review committee awaiting clearance, send a short email to elearning-postgraduate@maseno.ac.ke, stating when you submitted. We will attempt to find out the status of the proposals.

For those waiting to defend their thesis at SGS, we will be uploading, on the postgraduate research support area, schedules of defenses as they are organized. For those waiting to defend final project reports, we will obtained School schedules and post them on the research support section as well.

Please note that the above email will be used for the stated purposes only. All other communication will be done through the Postgraduate Research Support area or relevant Schools and ePCs desks on the eLearning portal.

These activities commence immediately.

I wish you all the best and success this year.

Kind regards.

Dr. Bonuke Anyona.

Hello Grace,

I hope you are well.

Good to hear that you have already developed a concept note. The procedure is that once you develop a concept, you are required to present it in an oral defense at your School/Department, the panel looks at it, gives direction and assigns you a supervisor.

So what you must do immediately is book a defense date with your school, come and present your concept and you will be assigned supervisors. You cannot proceed to develop a proposal before approval by the postgraduate board at your school.

I hope you have logged onto the research support area and completed the questionnaire to indicate which month you will be available to defend. All the best in your studies.

Kind regards

Bonuke.

Dear Dr Bonuke

Thank you for the above communication.

I submitted my research proposal concept note in July last year but have not received any feedback or supervisor allocation.  Should I go ahead with the research proposal or should I wait before proceeding?

Kind regards

Grace Rubiro
