Thanks for the directions given above.I have completed my concept and need a way forward on the matter.Where to submit it and whether i can defend during the mid semester meeting in May.

I hope you are well.

That is the way to progress. Watch out for information from your ePC when you will be invited to defend your concept. After the defense, you will be assigned a supervisor to help you move forward. All the best.

I have develop a draft for my proposal and filled the form, will this help me towards oral defence  at my departmental level and probably get assigned the supervisors.

The regulations are that you have to give an oral defense of your concept at the Department or School, get assigned a supervisor, develop a full proposal with the help of a supervisor, come and present again at an oral defense at the School, make corrections and forward to SGS for review and clearance if you are doing a thesis. Once you have a letter from SGS, you then submit it to Ethics review Committee for review and issuance of an ethics certificate to allow you collect data on human participants if your study involves humans. Once you have that clearance, you will then proceed to collect data, process, analyses and write a thesis or project report. Once done with the thesis or report and your supervisor is satisfied that its good and ready to be submitted, you then send it to SGS (for thesis) or School (for project reports) for examination and final oral defense. You will then make corrections after the oral defense and submit final thesis/project report copies to SGS/School for binding. You then wait for graduation.

What if one did not orally defend the concept paper but submitted, it was reviewed accepted and supervisor allocated. What follows in this process? Defense? chronologically?

I hope you are well and a very happy new year.

The requirement by most Departments is that you defend your concept at a Departmental level so that the panel looks at your area of interest and selects the best mentor in your area of research. Have you had an oral defense at your Department?

If your proposal concept is ready, then notify your ePC so that you can be included in the next available oral defense at your Department, based on when you feel you will be free and ready to give a presentation.
