The Maseno University eLibrary is designed to enable students and staff access various electronic resources which include eJournals, eBooks and past examination papers. The eLibrary provides library and information services by making available relevant literature in all fields of knowledge. It also gives provision for interaction with other eLibrary users and the eLibrarian through the eLibrary Discussion Forum. The aim of this topic is to introduce you to the eLibrary and its content and help you learn about how to find the electronic resources.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
1. Know more about the eLibrary and learn about the various electronic resources available in the eLibrary
2. Explore the content of the different electronic databases in the eLibrary
3. Search, read and download electronic resources from the eLibrary
4. Know the communication tools available in the eLibrary
Lets begin!
1. To get to the eLibrary page, go to the eLearning home page and scroll down to the eLibrary
2. Under the eLibrary, you will get different links to electronic resources namely; Electronic Databases (with several databases that contain e-journals and e-books organised alphabetically), Open Educational Resources (OER) (with several databases that contain free downloadable e-journals and e-books) and Past examination papers (which contain past examinations done at the University for the Courses offered at the eCampus. The past papers are organized according to schools.
3. Search for an electronic resource related to your area of study within any database by clicking at the database e.g b-ok.org which is within the Open Educational Resources link and typing in your search keyword, subject or title of the information you are looking for, e.g eLearning in Higher Education as a subject and then click search to get the search results.
4. You can choose to read the resource online or download and save in your library.
